(I’m talking with my friends at lunch.)

Friend #1: “Are you taking anyone to the dance?”

Me: “Nope.”

Friend #1: “Okay.”

Me: *Seeing the opportunity to come out* “That would be quite a feat, because I’m gay.”

Friend #1: “Wait, what?”

Me: *Repeats* “I’m gay.”

Friend #1: “How did I not know this?” *Turns to other friends* “Did you know?”

Friends #2 and #3: “Know what?”

Me: “That I’m gay.”

Friends #2 and #3: “Yes.” (I had come out to friend #2 previously but not friend #3.)

Me: “I told [Friend #2] months ago. The real question is, how did you know, [Friend #3], since I never told you?”

Friend #3: “I could just tell by your personality.”

Friend #1 and me: “What’s a gay personality?”

Friend #3: “I don’t know, I can just tell. And I understand because I am too.”

Friend #1: “You’re gay too?!”

Friend #3: “Well, no, but I’m bi.”
