My husband and I are expecting our first child, and we’re talking over different things we still need to do before she arrives.

Me: ..and I think I’d like to get my hair cut short. Just to make things easier.

His face goes from happy to concerned very quickly.

Him: Well, if that’s what you want. But you know our daughter might like it better long, since we’ll be letting hers grow out. So she’ll match mama.

I stare at him, utterly bewildered, for a good minute before I realize what’s happened.

Me: Oh, honey no! Short like to my collarbone, so the baby can’t grab the pony tail. Not a full “get me your manager” Karen cut!

The look of relief on his face has me laughing for the next 5 minutes straight!
