Unfiltered Story #28266

Unfiltered | December 11, 2016

(I go to an extremely good college in an extremely poor and small town in the middle of no where. As such, there are few large retail stores and cheap places are the only ones that can afford to stay open. The names of most stores are unknown as they’re usually mom and pop. This leads to the following conversations.)

(I’m at a friend’s house and talking to him and one of his roommates (roommate 1) when another one of his roommates (roommate 2) walks in.)

Roommate 1: hey (roommate 2) is that a new shirt?

Roommate 2: Oh yeah, I bought it yesterday at (very popular clothing store).

Friend (confused): there’s a (very popular clothing store) in this town?

Roommate 2: oh no, I had to go to (nearby town).

Friend: that makes more sense

(My housemates and I are discussing buying a tv for our house we share.)

Me: hey check this out, at (popular electronics store) they’re selling a 32 inch tv for $110.

Housemate 1: Awesome! We should go buy it then before they run out.

Me: Great idea!

Housemate 2: Guys I don’t think there’s a (popular electronics store) in this town.

(He was right. We had to go to a differerent nearby town to buy it. Worth it though.)

(I’m studying with a classmate when a girl he knows walks up.)

Girl: hey (classmate) we need to have a meeting about coordinating rides for (club event) on Saturday.

Classmate: yes. Could we meet on Thursday?

Girl: perfect. Let’s go to (popular hamburger joint).

Classmate: I don’t think (popular hamburger joint) exists in this town.

Girl (quickly googles it): you’re right. Shall we meet at (different popular hamburger joint) instead?

(I’m also on one of our schools sports teams and after practice we’re sitting around talking.)

Teammate 1: What should we do for fun today guys?

Teammate 2: let’s go to (very expensive car) dealership and do some test drive.

Teammate 3: (teammate 2), do you mind telling me where there is a (very expensive car) dealership in this town?

Teammate 2: damn me for being from a rich city and coming to this dump

(I’m checking my email and I get one from an old professor wanting to meet up for lunch. He suggests (popular taco shop).)

Me (to person next to me); where is there a (popular taco shop) in this town?

Person: I don’t know.

(After google, it was found that none existed. We met somewhere else.)
