(My best friend and I are waiting for a bus and idly joking about her relationship with her long term boyfriend, who’s known for his odd sense of humour. We’re all close.)

Me: “Yeah, I’m really looking forward to planning your fancy dress, [Famous Ogre] themed, wedding with him.”

Friend: “Hey, hold up! I need a proposal before I even think about a wedding!”

Me: “Okay. [Friend] will you do me the honour of becoming [Boyfriend’s Name]’s wife?”
