my brother is separated from his ex-girlfriend but they have a young daughter together and have remained friends. They have managed to work out a good schedule for seeing her and they are on very good terms. However, his ex gets a new boyfriend who quickly becomes a major problem. Early on his rude and confrontational to my brother purely because he is her ex-boyfriend. Any chance he gets he tries to deny my brother or any of his family members from seeing his daughter. Frequently he makes up excuses like “She’s having a fun time with us, she’ll get upset if she leaves.” or claiming she has to come home early because they have ‘things to do’. A couple of times recently, when my brother has gone to pick her up he has rudely shouted “SHE DOESN’T WANT TO SEE YOU!” and slammed the door in his face. Thankfully his ex-girlfriend doesn’t play along and always make sure he gets his visits with his daughter. This guy is clearly trying to mark his territory and act like the alpha dog and its become apparent that none of her family seems to like him and their relationship is on the rocks. One day my brother gets a frantic call that his daughter has fallen over and is hurt, immediately the pair of us race to the hospital. When we get there we see her boyfriend standing in the doorway trying to look threatening.
Boyfriend: What the f*** are you doing here?
Brother: Err… my daughter, move, please
Boyfriend stands in front of the door giving him an arrogant sneer and folds his arms.
Boyfriend: Well, she doesn’t want to see you, get lost!
Brother: Look just move out of the way, I don’t have time for this!
Boyfriend: You ain’t going there, especially since you’re the cause of it!
Me: What the hell are you talking about? Just get out the way!
Boyfriend: She’s obviously scared of him and the stress of it made her hurt herself! Gonna tell (ex-girlfriend) that she should get your visitation rights terminated!
Brother: Well (ex-girlfriend) called me and asked me to be here, my little girl needs her father right now.
My brother goes to enter the room, once again (Boyfriend) blocks him
Boyfriend: I’M HER FATHER!!!
Brother (laughs): No, you are not, you’re some bloke (ex-girlfriend) happens to be dating, now move out the way!
Boyfriend (smirks): Hurts you doesn’t it!
Me: Look you moron, how about you drop the big and tough act and let (niece’s name)’s FATHER go and see his little girl! If you want to act like a d*** go and do it somewhere else!
Boyfriend: WANNA TAKE THIS OUTSIDE C***
Me: Because you getting arrested will prove your point somehow?
Brother: Right enough of this…
My brother once more tries to enter the room but (boyfriend) grabs him and tries to block his path. There is a bit of scuffle and the doctor and (ex-girlfriend) emerge looking confused.
Ex-GF: What the hell is going on?
Brother: (Boyfriend) Somehow thinks that (Niece) doesn’t want to see me and somehow he is now her father!
Ex-GF: ARE YOU KIDDING ME (Boyfriend)? My daughter is in the hospital bleeding and your first instinct is pick a fight with someone? What the hell is your problem?
Boyfriend: HE SHOULDN’T BE HERE! I’M MORE OF A FATHER TO HER THAN HE IS
Me: Once again, no you are not! You’ve barely known her two months! Just stop this stupid p****** contest.
Doctor: (to be my brother) Sir, if you are the biological father I need you to come with me.
Boyfriend: I’M HER BIOLOGICAL FATHER!
My brother laughs hard at hearing this
Brother: Are you joking mate, seriously? Do you even know what biological means? Were you there when she was born? Did you see her take her first steps, take her to her first day of school…any of those? No, none of these, well then I guess I’m her father then! Now get out of the way and let me see my daughter!
Immediately her boyfriend grabs my brother
Boyfriend: LISTEN HERE YOU LITTLE S***….
Ex-GF: JUST STOP IT! GO HOME!
Boyfriend: You what?
EX-GF: This day has been difficult and stressful enough without you making it worst- GO HOME NOW!
Boyfriend: Hold up…
He lurches forward, the doctor stands between him and my brother’s ex!
Doctor: SIR! I suggest you leave now or we’ll call security!
Her boyfriend gives all nasty looks but thankfully leaves without a fuss. She broke up with him the very next day, he didn’t take it well and ended up coming to her place and making some nasty sounding threats and got himself arrested. She apologized to my brother for what had happened. Apparently, he wasn’t particularly nice to their daughter and was often yelling and snapping at her for innocuous things and calling her a ‘stupid child’. He was always trying to convince her that she should cut him out of her life because he was a ‘bad influence’. He was often pushy and rude about the fact they still spoke and seemed to want a more advanced role in their daughter’s life than was possible. .However, despite their relationship not working out she knew better and was thankful that bully was no longer around to twist the knife. Since they have both remarried to lovely people and continue to raise their child together.
