Unfiltered Story #281216
(I’ve been a huge geek for most of my life and was introduced to Pokémon at an early age by my older cousin, who gave me a few cards and then let me trade my way into a full deck with Pokémon I liked. Trading to building my deck while my cousin’s cards were scattered all over the floor is one of my most treasured memories, so when I have a “show and tell speech” as an assignment in high school, I bring in my old deck—which is still in great condition—and talk about how much fun I had building it, as well as how my cousins introduced me to a number of geeky things I’m still into. The speech goes so well that I mention it at the dinner table with my family.)
Me: “We had our show and tell speeches today. I brought in my old Pokémon cards but dropped them all over the floor halfway through!”
Dad: “You brought in your old Pokémon cards?”
Me: “Yeah. I looked through the deck before bringing them in and forgot how many cool ones there were. There’s a Horsea card in Spanish and a Mareep one in German!”
Mom: “When you gave your speech, you talked about this in PAST tense, right?”
(Thanks for the support.)
