Unfiltered Story #281036

(At first sight, I am often mistaken as being quite a bit younger than I am as a consequence of being short and round-faced. When I was in high school, I often ran slides for my church’s morning service, a job that as far as I know no one below ninth grade has ever been allowed to do. On this occasion, the service is over, the sanctuary has cleared out except for a few stragglers who will talk for hours, and I’ve gotten everything turned off that needs to be before coming out of the AV room. An elderly lady sees me.)

Old Lady: Hello! Good job with the the technology today.

Me: Thank you!

Old Lady: Are you in high school yet?

Me: . . . I’m a junior.

Old Lady: Oh . . .

(It was awkward. Well, I can’t say I’ve never gotten a story out of being mistaken for a fourteen-year-old.)
