Unfiltered Story #28100

Unfiltered | May 16, 2016

My best friend has a habit of calling me out if I’m in a bad mood in a social situation, saying stuff like “Oh, [my name] is not in a good mood.” It never helps my mood because I just feel she is blaming me for feeling anything. I usually just fall silent and get sulky when I’m in a bad mood, so I’m not bothering anyone very much. A few days after she has done this again, I tell her privately that I don’t appreciate it.

Best friend: “Yeah, I know it’s a bad habit. I sometimes do it with [her sister] too. I know I should stop.”

Me: “You don’t do with [Friend #1], even though you can easily tell when she’s in a bad mood too. …and you remember when [Friend #2] screamed at us for good few minutes about rape jokes being wrong when no one had made any nor disagreed with her? *I start laughing at the mental image* I’d have given you a medal if you had said ‘Oh, [Friend #2] is not in a good mood.’ ”

Best friend: *while also laughing* “There would have not been enough of me left to receive that medal…”
