I frequently get calls to my cell phone from similar numbers to my own, which I quickly learn are almost always some kind of spam or scam, so I rarely pick up the phone for an unknown number unless I’m expecting a call. The call volume picks up around the winter holidays for some reason, and I’m feeling some holiday cheer, so at one point I answer the phone with the line “Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color?” from a certain Christmas movie. I immediately hear the caller hang up. I tried it a couple more times over the next month, and was hung up on every time. Guess they didn’t want to talk about their favorite color.
