Unfiltered Story #280299

(I had only been working for two weeks at my first job. I had just turned eighteen and hadn’t yet learned not to laugh at the customers until you’re sure they are joking. This customer came up to me)

Me: “Did you need help finding something?”

Customer: “Three days ago the yarn was 99 cents a piece. Now they’re $1.49.”

Me: “Yes, that’s right.”

Customer: “Why?”

Me: “Because it was on sale last week. We’re in a new week now, so the sale ended.”

Customer: *Frowning* “Why did it do that?!”

(I started giggling, but the customer then started glaring at me. I then realized she was being serious!)

Me: “Because that’s what sales do? They…end?”
