Unfiltered Story #273167
(My Spanish II kids are having their first quiz of the year. A student raises his hand.)
Student: “What does [word] mean?”
Me: “Show me the question.” (If it’s a grammar question, I can probably define a word without giving away the answer. Unfortunately, it’s a vocabulary question.) “Sorry, I can’t. That’s what the question is asking for.”
Student: “Please? Can’t you just tell me this one?”
Me: “No, sorry.”
(He begs for a while, then goes on to another question. Then, the other Spanish teacher, who taught most of the kids last year, comes in to give me some worksheets.)
Student: “Mrs. [Teacher]! Do you know what [word] means?”
Teacher: “Yes, I do!” (walks out)
(The student doesn’t ask again.)
