I am at the backyard pool, when dark flying things come swooping down and pick up bugs in the water. I am freaked out, so I go back inside, where its safe.

Me: Those crazy birds are crazy!

Stepbrother: They’re bats.

Mother: They’re bats.

Me: More like flying rats of death!

Mother: (shakes her head and goes back to her Kindle)

Stepbrother: Aw, they won’t hurt you. They’re more interested in the bugs. It’s interesting that they prefer this time of day, instead of night.
