Unfiltered Story #264721

, , | Unfiltered | August 5, 2022

One night (1:45 am on a weeknight, for the record), my landlady texted me to saying she would be having a party the next day at 5:00, and she would park in my usual parking spot to save it for me. She told me to call her when I got home and she would move her car. The next day, I got home, saw a car in my spot, and called her. She informed me that one of her guests had gotten there before she could save the spot, but she said she’d make her guest move and then she hung up. As I was waiting, another car pulled in front of me, clearly waiting for the about-to-be-vacated spot. I leisurely pulled up toward her bumper, just on the off chance that I was wrong about the second driver’s intentions. However, the driver did indeed take the spot, so I decided I wasn’t getting my typical spot that night and I prepared to park on the other side of the street. However, when I looked behind me, the first guest was busy making a u-turn and had temporarily trapped me in the cul-de-sac. And then the first guest drove past the second guest with the window down and said something to her, presumably that the second guest was in my spot. The second guest also moved and I finally pulled into my usual spot, by now very annoyed with how complicated this became.

I get that my landlady and her guests were trying to be nice and considerate. I appreciate that. But honestly, it would have been quicker and easier to just park in the first available less-convenient spot.
