I work with a few different high schools within a nearby school district, when I meet with the kids I often ask how to spell their names so I know I have their correct info. This kind of incident happens way to often.

Me: Hi, can I get your first and last name?
Student: Victoria *last name*
Me: Okay, and is that Victoria with a C or a K?
Student: With a V.
Me: Yes, but is it vi-C-toria or vi-K-troia *I spelled out both possible options*
Student: *with a dead pan face* Its Victoria with a V.

I gave up and just spelled it with a C and made sure to not ask any harder questions.
