This happens on the phone

Customer: I was in the store the other day wanting to get my TV put on the wall and the boy I was talking to said you don’t do that, but he gave me the name of a store in the mall across the street that might do it.

Me: Okay…

Customer: I forget what the store is called. Do you know what store he was talking about?

Me: No, I don’t, I’m sorry.

Customer: Can you ask him?

Me: Do you know who you were talking to?

Customer: No.

Me: Um… Hold on. (I put her on hold and ask the only other associate if they told someone about a store who could put a TV on the wall for her.)

Associate: No… Um, I have no idea who would do that. Maybe *store1* or *Store2*?

Me: (back on the phone) Okay so the only other associate working right now says he wasn’t the one you spoke to. But maybe it was *store1* or *store2*?

Customer: I don’t know, I don’t remember.

Me: Well could you maybe Google the mall and look at a directory of the stores? Maybe you’ll recognize it when you see it.

Customer: I don’t know which store it was! Someone working there told me but I forget and he said you guys don’t do it.

Me: No, we don’t do that. But I don’t know how else to help you, honestly. If you don’t recognize the name of the two stores I suggested, I don’t know what else to do.

Customer: Maybe you can look it up for me

Me: Well I can’t really do that. And I’d have to list out all the stores to you, it’s probably easier if you do it.

Customer: Okay then. *hangs up*

Me: that was weird.
