Unfiltered Story #260457

My not-yet two year old goddaughter’s mother just had another baby, and my goddaughter wasn’t happy about the new addition to her family. About two weeks after the birth she’s trying to sleep with her mother and upset that her new sister is fussing and hogging bed space so she stands up and points at her sister and says the clearest sentence she’s uttered so far:

Goddaughter: you No! go away!

almost exactly two years later, visiting before the goddaughters birthday, we have this exchange.

Me (to older goddaughter): You are so cute, can I kidnap you and take you home with me?
Older Goddaughter: Okay!
Me: great. I’m sure your mother won’t mind my stealing you at all.
Older Goddaughter: but you have to bring [younger sister] too. I’d be the only girl without [younger sister].
Me: So you like [younger sister]? you don’t want her to go away?
Older Goddaughter: No! I love [younger sister]

Guess it’s a good thing she didn’t get her wish 2 years ago after all.
