Unfiltered Story #255870
A new grocery store opens around the corner (like: 25 meters away). After checking it out, I decide to make it my preferred grocery store. I go there once a week and eventually I recognize the staff and they recognize me. I always make short small talk with one of the staff members (I will call her Marie), like: ‘How are you doing?’ and ‘How are your kids?’. After a year, the store celebrates their anniversary with a giveaway. I come and check my ticket.
Marie: No luck?
Me: Nah, but that’s okay. Better luck next time, right? *jokingly* You know what, you should host these giveaways more often, that way I will have a better chance!
Marie: Then you should come shop here more often, because we do these giveaways all the time!
I was baffled. I’m still wondering what baffled me more; the fact I shop there weekly, which is apparently not often enough, or the fact she simply lied about the giveaways. I know it’s a First World Problem, but I suddenly don’t feel welcome at that store any more.
