(I work in a bank which sells foreign currency. The following conversation happens at least once a month.)
Me: Hello, welcome to (bank)! What can I help you with today?
Customer: I need to get some Euros.
Me: Ok, how much did you want to get?
Customer: 500.
Me: Did you want 500 Euros, or 500 dollars worth of Euros?
Customer: What do you mean? I just want to get 500 EuroDollars.
Me: Did you want to spend $500 or get €500?
Customer: *Finally beginning to understand* Oh, I want to spend 500 Dollars!
(Some customers can take 10 minutes or more to understand this concept. In one case, the customer left with his foreign currency still muttering something about not understanding what just happened.)
