(I work at a help desk to provide support for our clients cellular accounts. We mostly act as a middleman between our clients and the carriers. I get this call from someone who lost one of his hotspot device.)

Me: “Do you know the phone number of the device?”

Caller: “No.”

Me: “That’s alright. I can look it up by your work email”

Caller: (Spells out his email)

Me: “Your profile has 2 different hotspot devices. A [Carrier 1 device] and a [carrier 2 device]. Which one did you lose?”

Caller: “I don’t know.”

Me: “Well… which one is the one you still have?”

Caller: “I don’t know.”

Me: “… Right. Well, do you still have at least one of them right?”

Caller: “I gave one to my coworker.”

Me: “Well, until we figure out which device we’re working with, I can’t really proceed.”

Caller: “Okay”

(Out of curiosity, I looked up his email at the end of my shift to see if he called back. He did but it looks like he was better prepared)
