(I work as the receptionist of a financial services office. In our lobby, we have a TV that is always set on the stock market channel, so I often have agents looking at it and commenting on it.)
Agent: *noticing stock is in the red* Ooh, that’s not good.”
Me: *looking over* “Yep.”
Agent: “Red means it’s not good, [My Name].”
Me: *thinking he’s joking, sarcastically* “Oh, gee, really?”
Agent: *looks at me very seriously and nods* “Yes, red is not good.”
Me: “…”
