Unfiltered Story #248551
Many years ago I decided to change banks. I walked into the branch, closed the account and walked out with a check, which I deposited in the new bank a few blocks away. I subsequently received a statement showing the withdrawal and a zero balance. All good.
The next month, I got a statement showing that I had accrued about fifty cents in interest. I called the bank and was assured that their system was just catching up and it would zero out.
The next month I got a new statement showing that I had insufficient funds and had been charged a fee, which had been charged against my overdraft protection, so now I owed them money. Again, I called and was assured they would clear it.
The next month brought another statement showing another fee and a warning that I was past due. I walked into the branch on my lunch break, sat down at a manager’s desk and loudly demanded they fix the issue.
