Unfiltered Story #247970

(A guy comes up to me at work)
Customer: Excuse me, do you know the cheapest motel around here?
Me: … What?
Customer: Do you know the rates of all the motels? I saw a Motel 6 down the road, and I want to know which is the cheapest rate.
Me: There’s a Motel 6 near here?
(Even though my town is really small, about five miles across as the crow flies, I know there aren’t any hotels on my side of town, since the interstate is on the other side of town, and it can take up to 45 minutes to get to that side of town if you hit the lights wrong. I also rarely go more than ten minutes from my house for anything, with church being the furthest I have to go, a mere 15 minutes from my house.)
Customer: Yeah, it’s just down the road. Which motel has the cheapest rates?
Me: I don’t know, you have to go online for that.
Customer: I do?
Me: Yes.
(Seriously, why would anyone have hotel rates memorized?)
