Unfiltered Story #244546

I´m calling out on myself here. I´m visiting friends for the first time in the US, and we´re at a restaurant. We pay separately, I pay by card. I´m from a country where you never tip, since the servers are paid more than minimum wage, and sometimes they charge 15% automatically: a service fee. When I get the bill back, I don´t leave a tip, and we leave the restaurant.

Friend #1: How much did you guys tip?
Friend #2: About 20%, they had great service
Friend #1: How about you, Lisa?
Me: What? I didn´t tip anything
Friend #1: What! That´s rude! You always tip!
Me: What are you talking about?
Friend #2: Servers barely get paid, you have to leave a tip!
Me: Why didn´t you guys tell me? How was I supposed to know that?
Friend #2: You kinda should´ve known, aren´t we always in the news?

We were already in the car heading somewhere else, or else I would have gone back and left a tip. Basically, I felt awful that whole day for potentially ruining that server´s day.
