Unfiltered Story #241750

I get a lot of scam calls and generally don’t answer the phone if I don’t know the number, but one day I’m expecting a call and answer when it rings without closely checking the number.
Caller: Hi, can I speak to [name that is not even close mine]?
Me, suspicious but polite: Sorry, you have the wrong number.
Caller: Oh, that’s okay! Maybe you can help me with-
Me: Nope! *hangs up*

Scammer guy, if any old stranger who answered the phone could “help” you, why bother asking for another person’s name in the first place?
