Unfiltered Story #241739

, , | Unfiltered | August 13, 2021

One of my duties at the library is to conduct hourly “walk-throughs” — walking around the library to ensure everything is tidy, nothing is broken, and nothing sketchy is going on. This includes the bathrooms, which are a prime target for messes and/or vandalism. Being female, I’m always wary of accidentally walking in on someone in the men’s room, so I usually knock and shout out “Maintenance!” before going inside — and if someone’s in there, I wait until they leave before doing a check.

Today I knock on the men’s restroom door, open it slightly, and call out “Maintenance!”

I get a response — “Come on in.”

I don’t know if the occupant somehow decided by my voice that I was male or if he didn’t mind a woman walking in on his “business,” but I declined the offer and made myself scarce.
