Unfiltered Story #240455

My dad worked in a home improvement store designing cabinets. After closing, he went to help do some recovery. All seems quiet until there’s a loud crashing sound that echoes through the huge building. He and several other people go running, and find a man and a woman at the back of the store.

They’re both clearly drunk, and the crashing sound was the man, having discovered a stack of folding chairs, had chosen to grab two chairs in the middle of the stack and yank them violently free.

Dad: “Folks, are you okay?”

Man, slurring: “Yeah we just wanted to sit down.”

Dad: “Well, unfortunately, we’re closed and you need to head to the front of the store.”

Man: “Naw, we don’t need to leave yet. We just need to sit for about half an hour. We can do that if we want to.”

Dad: “No, sir, you cannot. We’re closed. We’ve been closed for twenty minutes. You need to go up to the front of the store and be let out.”

Man: “Listen here you low end retail slob…” he stands up and leans precariously while trying to jab my father in the chest with his finger, “If I say I can sit down for a while, then that’s what I’m going to do.”

Dad: “No. You are now trespassing. You will leave, right now, or I will call the police and have you removed.”

Man: “That’s it. You just lost your job. Come on honey, we’re going to complain to the manager.”

The two make their way down the aisle, lurching from side to side as my father radios the manager.

Pretty soon, he hears the drunk man loudly, and still slurring, bellow: “LISTEN HERE YOU LOW LIFE! I SAID IF I WANNA SIT DOWN FOR HALF AN HOUR, THEN I’M GOING TO! I DON’T CARE IF YOU’RE CLOSED! YOU HAVE TO LET ME SIT DOWN!”

Manager: “We closed half an hour ago. Customer service is over for the day. I don’t have to do a d*** thing for you except tell you to get the f*** out of my store.”

Man: “Corporate will be hearing about this!”

The big front doors were opened enough to allow the two to pass, and Dad spotted a police car waiting in the parking lot with its lights off. The two staggered to their car and the man put his key in the ignition, turned the motor on and started to drive off. At that, the cop car lit up.

A coworker had called the police, and the police got them for disturbing the police, public intoxication, and drunk driving.

Corporate never passed on any complaints back to the store about that night.
