I’m the idiot here. I’m taking my paycheck to deposit at the bank, and withdrawing some money while I’m at it. In my state, at least, you have to show ID if you’re withdrawing money. So the bank guy has the check I’m depositing, my ID, and my money sitting on the counter in front of him. He finishes inputting the information and hands me my ID and my money.

Me: Um… shouldn’t you give me back the check too?

As soon as I said it, I realized what I had said. He looked at me funny, and we both started chuckling as I promised him that I did actually know how banks worked.
