I am the customer in this story. My neighborhood has a pretty endemic infestation of ant colonies, and we’ve just suffered a pretty serious incursion into our home. I’m fed up with it and have gone to the store.
Me: *setting nothing but ant powder, gel ant traps and other ant-related products on the belt* I’m pretty much fed up.
Cashier: *oblivious* Oh, did you not find what you were looking for today?
Me: *looks intently at all of the products I placed on the belt*
Cashier: *starts ringing things up* Was there something else we could help you find?
Me: No. No, look. Look at what I’m buying and tell me why I’m fed up.
Cashier: *stares blankly at all of my purchases*
Me: Ants. I’m tired of the ants.
Cashier: *continues to stare uncomprehendingly*
Me: I’m fed up because I’ve got an ant infestation, so… so like, I’m buying all of these ant killing products.
Cashier: Oh! Oh, I see. Well I hope you get them under control. Have a nice day!
Me: *screams internally*
