I work at a popular pizza place and to be honest, I’m used to rude customers. I’ve worked there for nine months and I’ve gotten used to customers yelling at me. This happened last night.
Man on the phone: Hi what are your specials tonight?
Me: For delivery or carry out?
Man: Carry out
Me: (I start listing the specials)
Man: ma’am
Me: yes?
Man: can you actually talk into the phone rather than to your friend right beside you?
Me: (takes a deep breath and repeats the specials)
I finished the order and hung up. I don’t understand why he couldn’t have just politely told me to speak up. But what creeped me out was my friend (and manager) was standing right beside me when this happened. It was surely a coincidence but still creepy.
