Unfiltered Story #234615

, , | Unfiltered | May 19, 2021

I work the front desk at an assisted living home for seniors. Our director of nursing has been away for a while unexpectedly. I’ve just been told this morning she was in a car accident last week and is still in the hospital. I’m sitting at my desk and the phone rings. I barely get out our standard greeting out before the caller cuts in…

Caller: Is [director of nursing] there?
Me: I’m sorry, she’s not in today. Can-
Caller: *cuts me off with a huff* I’ve been trying to reach her since last week and every d*** time I’m told she’s not there. What kind of a place-
Me: [This time I cut *her* off because I’m worried about the person in question and this lady is being a rude b****, so my tone has considerably more snark than my normal ‘customer service’ voice] I’m sorry, she was in a car accident last week, which I just found out about this morning-
Caller: *she cuts me off again with a snotty, ruder tone* Well do you know when she’ll be back?!
Me: *thinking: are you kidding me?!* I’m sorry, I don’t know her condition. She’s still in the hospital.
Caller: *huffs again* Well I can’t believe this. I need to get a hold of her now. I guess I’ll call back. *hangs up*
Me: …are you KIDDING me, lady?!

Yes, I could have transferred her to someone else who probably could have helped, had I been able to get a word in between her b*******. I mean, COME ON, who hears someone’s been in a d*** car accident, is still in the hospital, and STILL keeps being a rude b****?!

Question of the Week
