Unfiltered Story #222136

I was 17 and living at home. Also I was still very connected to my parents. They took a trip to Hawaii and were at a part of the island that had no signal. The day before my Dad was talking about a road that he could easily end up in the ocean. I was concerned that they were dead when I couldn’t get ahold of them but had to go to work as a bagger at a local grocery store after calming down enough to do so.

Me: How are you doing today?
Customer: Oh, having a rough day.
Me: Really? Me too.
Customer: NO YOU DIDN’T!
Me: ……
Customer: Your parents didn’t just get out of the hospital.
(Customer grabs items and leaves)
I just stand there stunned then burst into tears being reminded that I can’t get ahold of my parents.
