(At my office, I sometimes take payment for cash sales (which simply means a sale where payment is made at time of purchase, not necessarily one involving physical cash). Once the transaction is complete, I will print a copy of the invoice for the customer.)

Me: (handing a customer his invoices after briefly writing on them) These are yours.

Customer: Vee-sa…is that how you say your name?

Me: …No. That’s the payment type. You paid with a Visa card.

Customer: Oh. What’s your name?

Me: [My name].

Customer: Well I don’t know, I thought maybe you had to initial the invoice or something!
