(I’m a barista and a customer has just ordered an extra hot latte with exactly one ice cube in it. I’ve made the drink as ordered and hand it off to her. As soon as she grabs the drink, she takes the lid off and inspects her drink.)

Customer #1: Excuse me! I asked for an ice cube in my drink and I don’t see it.

Me: I put an ice cube in your drink, just like you asked.

Customer #1: Where is it?! I don’t see it.

Me: …It melted.

Customer #1: ….Oh.

(Cue second customer who’s witnessed this whole exchange.)

Customer #2: Science!
