(I worked for the help desk at my IT consulting company for some years, this is one memorable exchange with a semi-frequent customer. We will sometimes help customers setup their new computer by remoting in to install or configure various programs)
Client: “Hi, I got a new computer!”
Me: “Great!”
Client: “…Do I need to take it out of the box?”
Me: “…Yes…”
Client: “What do I do with the old one?”
Me: “Unplug it, put it aside, and connect the new one?”
Client: “Oh, OK, I’ll call you back in a few!” *Click*
Me: “….I bet she’s going to call back wanting to know what cable to connect to where…”
(To my amazement they called back and had everything connected properly, ready for me to help them set it up!)
