Unfiltered Story #217687
(I have been working at a well-known grocery store in the Midwest for 6 years and this is the first time I’ve had a customer actually yell at me. For some of the sales, our system doesn’t always show the correct prices until the cashiers hit “total”. Although this happens a lot, we still have regular customers who always complain that the prices are wrong.
For this particular sale customers can purchase an 8-piece fried chicken, two sides and two 1.5 liters of bottled soda or water. We have to scan everything before the price can go down.)
Me: *Scans box of chicken and the two sides*
Regular: *Shrieks* Those are supposed to be .99 cents! (She jabs a finger at the screen.)
(At least two of my coworkers have turned around and are now staring at the lady.)
Me: Ma’am, I have to finish scanning the rest of the items before the sale price is taken off. When I hit ‘total’ the difference will show up.
Regular: Oh, okay. I just wanted to make sure they were wrung up properly.
(She was polite the rest of the transaction. If she would have waited a couple more seconds, I would have told her that the price of the chicken deal had been taken off! This happens all the time!)
