(Situation: I had been switched out of the advance class over the winter break, and my name was still on the roster, and there was a substitute on the first day back.)

Substitute: Is [My Name] here?

Classmate 1: [My Name]’s been switched out of the class.

Classmate 2: [My Name]’s no longer with us.

Classmate 3: What! He’s dead?!

And whenever anyone in that class talks to me they ask me “are you dead?”
