Unfiltered Story #214258

Our neighbours are successful cheese makers, making and selling local cheese, some plain, some embedded with tasty things. It is really good cheese.

One of the cheeses they used to make was called “Nutty Cheese”. Aside from the rather obvious name, the cheese came in a clear plastic wrapper, so you could see what was in it. It also had an ingredients list stating clearly what was in it.

One day, they got a summons. Someone with a nut allergy had eaten some of the Nutty Cheese and had a reaction and was now suing them because there was no “May contain nuts” warning on the packet. The judge threw it out on the basis that the person was either an idiot or a scammer.

Sadly, it was too much for our neighbours, and they stopped doing the Nutty Cheese, which is a real shame because it was delicious.
