Unfiltered Story #211841

(It’s near Christmas. I’m on register and the manager tells me to go on break after checking out the last customer in my line. Naturally, I have to tell other customers who line up afterwards that my lane is closed.)

Customer: *enters my lane, looking at the snacks along the side*

Me: Hi! Just to let you know, my lane is closed, but my coworkers can check you out whenever you’re ready.

Customer: *rolls eyes* I know! I’m just looking!

Me: Ok! Just wanted to make sure you knew.

Customer: Can’t I just look?! *walks away, continuing to gripe*

(I share a look with the customer I’m finishing up with.)
