(This occurrence should be basic knowledge, for anytime you purchase anything, yet, this exchange happens too often…)

Customer: Hi, just this little bathtub, and I have a $10 off coupon.

(Her purchase was a 20.99 bathtub + tax, and her coupon brought it down to 10.99 + tax.)

Customer: How is it that expensive?! You’re adding it up wrong!

Me: Uh, tax is (amount) plus the cost of your item.

Customer: Oh…
