I was buying a Birthday present for my step-Mom at the same store she works at. Since she wasn’t working that day, I bought the present, with her co-worker as my cashier.
After having some conversation with her, I started to leave the store, saying, “Thank you, Sir!” Mind you, I call everyone “sir”. It’s just a habit, despite the person’s gender.
She was like, “It’s ‘sir’, is it?”
I apologized, “Sorry, it slipped out… I call everyone that.”
She replied, “It’s the short hair, isn’t it?”
And then I said, “Oh, no. I call everyone that!” At least she was a good sport about it, but sometimes, people just don’t want to be called “sir”…
