Unfiltered Story #205707

I work as a grave-yield shift receptionist in a hotel. Usually it is quiet and easy on my shift, and there is only me working until the sun rises. I was entering necessary information for the next shift into the computer while suddenly a woman starts banging on our office’s bullet-proof window.

Woman:”HEY! YOU! COME OUT! i WANT TO TALK TO YOU OUTSIDE!!”

Me:”Yes? Ma’am? How can I help you?”
Still shock from the sudden jump scare, also afraid of potential robbery or worst.

Woman:”MY ROOM SMELLS LIKE WEED! DO YOU KNOW? SMELL? NOSE?”
She points at her nose with both hands, likes I do not speak English. I am not native English speaker, but I can speak and understand English well.

Me:” Ma’am, what is your room number?”

Woman:”202!”
I quickly checked and we did not rent 202 out.

Me:’There is no one in room 202…”

Woman:”302!”

Me:”Ok…”
I went back and checked, there is no one around their room, the closer room with guest was at least 3 rooms away.

Woman:”MY ROOM SMELLS LIKE SMOKE! WEED! DO YOU KNOW WHAT WEED IS!?”
Again she points at her nose and starts making hand expression of smell likes I did not understand a word.

Me:”Yes, I do know, Marji…”

Woman:”DO YOU KNOW ENGLISH!? WEED!!!”
Cut me off before I can finish.

Me:”Yes…Ma’am, I know…”

Woman:”COME UP! I WANT YOU TO SMELL IT!!!
Cut me off again, now almost shouting at me. Banging the window at the same time.

Me:”Ok, let me come and see.”
I went up with her, her husband and 2 young sons are in the room too. The room has no smell of marijuana at all.

Woman:”Here! Smell it!”
She opens the bathroom door and pulls me in.

Me:”Ma’am, I am sorry, I don’t smell it.” Since it may because of my Anosmia, I also ask her husband, he smells it too, so my Anosmia is getting worse.

Me:”I am sorry, ma’am I can give you another…”

Woman:”SO YOU CAN’T SMELL!?
Not letting me finish.

Me:”Ma’am, I have Anosmia, so I may not able to…”

Woman:”WHY DON’T YOU GO HOME AND LET THEM FIND SOMEONE ELSE NORMAL!?”

Me:”Fine…sir, can you come with me to see if other room is okay?”
I just want to get away from her, I don’t want the kids hear and think it is okay to shame on other’s disability. Also to hide my tear.

Later the husband apologizes for what she said, and says they will stay in the original room. I give them the new room anyway and let them leave their stuff in the original room. I do not want children sleeping with the smoke, it will kill even more inside me than what their mother said to me.
