Unfiltered Story #201338
(I am working the registers. I am checking out a customer when a middle aged couple gets in line. The man has his two items on the floor while the woman is holding a couple of things. She puts her items on the shelf next to me.)
Me: Will this be together or separate?
Woman: Together.
Man: Separate.
Woman: Together.
Man: Separate. Let me pay for my own things.
Woman: Pay for it together and we’ll sort it out later.
(They both look at me. By this point, I had already rung up her things.)
Me: … Together or separate?
Woman: Together.
Man: Separate.
(They look at each other, then the man gives me a look that says he’s given up. As I ring them up, I try not to laugh.)
