Unfiltered Story #199969

I work at a cash register in a store of a well-known national chain of department stores.

One day, the phone rang. It was someone in the next department over warning me that an angry customer was heading my way, and just then she showed up….

Customer: (already angry) “I hope you will help me because those idiots refused to.”

Me: (as always, trying to be polite to a customer] “What can I do for you?”

Customer: “I bought [x dollars] of clothes but I returned them all for a refund of [x dollars]. I want to use that credit to buy some more clothes but they won’t let me.”

I had never been confronted with such (idiotic) logic before and it took me a minute to respond.

Me: “I’m sorry, ma’am, but the refund you received just cancelled out the money you owed, so you don’t actually have any store credit at all.”

She stared at me for a moment with a furious expression on her face and then stormed out of the store.
