(I’m the customer in this one. My girlfriend and I are clothes shopping at a rather popular store in the mall. I leave her to go look at some sale items. Another customer is over there with me, looking rather irritated and confused. I can feel her looking at me, so I finally look back, wondering if she wanted to ask me something.)

Customer: I need some help.

(I look around, wondering if there is someone who can help her nearby.)

Customer, louder: I need some help!

(At this point, I realize she might be talking to me, thinking I work there. I have no idea why, because I’m dressed down in shorts and a tank top. I don’t look like I work there at all, especially because the people working the floor wear bright yellow lanyards.)

Customer: Aren’t you going to help me?

Me: Oh, I don’t work here.

Customer: You don’t work here?

Me: No…

Customer: Do you know anyone that works here?

Me: Um…no?

Customer: You don’t know anyone that works here?

Me: No?

Customer: Are you sure?
