Unfiltered Story #195037
(At the restaurant where I work, weekends have become extremely reservation-heavy. We do have outdoor patio seating that is first-come-first-serve, but we can’t guarantee anything.)
Me: *answering phone* “[Restaurant]?”
Caller: “Can I get a table for six tonight?”
Me: “Well…” *I check our computer system for a time* “…right now, the earliest I can do is 9:30 this evening.”
Caller: “9:30 PM?”
Me: “Yes, sir.”
Caller: *sounding confused* “What if I come there and put my name in?”
Me: “That wouldn’t change anything, sir.”
Caller: “Don’t you… Don’t you people have tables for walk-in’s?!”
Me: “They are all occupied at the moment.”
Caller: *getting really passive aggressive* “So you’re telling me that, if I come put my name in, you’ll give me a three-hour wait?”
Me: “That is correct.”
Caller: “Fine.” *hangs up*
Me: “And a goodnight to you, too.”
