Unfiltered Story #193897
(I work in an IT helpdesk for a large company with four divisions. We handle a lot of calls every day, and there are a lot of employees, so we ask for a first and last name and a location code.)
Me: “Thank you for calling [Company] this is [my name], can I get your first and last name please?”
Caller: “It’s [name], and the last name is spelled [name]. My location code is [number].”
Me: “Thanks, give me just a second to look you up.”
(I can’t find her in our system by her last name or location code, but there are several other people with her first name. With a company of this size, this is pretty common. It is also not abnormal for people to just never be in our ticketing system. In that instance, we open the ticket under their supervisors name.)
Me: “I can’t seem to find you under your name or location code. Who is the supervisor of your location?”
Caller: “Me. It’s [name]!”
Me: “Ok. Unfortunately, you don’t seem to be in the ticketing system. Have you been with the company long?”
Caller: “Only 18 years!”
(at this point, she is starting to scream)
Me: “Ok. Well, would you be listed under a different last name for any reason?”
Caller: “NO! Do I need to call Stan? Do you know who Stan is?”
(There is no Stan in our office or in our management, so I have no idea what she’s talking about.)
Me: “Um, no. I actually don’t know who that is.”
Caller: “I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU DON’T KNOW WHO STAN IS! Ugh. I’ll call back and talk to someone else.”
(she hangs up on me)
Me: “….”
Coworker: *laughing hysterically*
