Unfiltered Story #193792

I have bad mental health problems, and one time I was on my way home from college and had severe low mood. I sat in a corner of the street and started self harming, thinking no one would notice/care.

A woman was walking past, with her 2 little kids, and she stopped to chat with me, she refused to leave. She poured water over my arms, and insisted on calling someone for me. I tried to walk away from her and she followed me. When I said that I didn’t want her children to have to see this, she stayed anyway, which made me feel so touched, as there’s so much stigma about mental health. She called my unit, and waited with me for 40 minutes in the rain until someone came to pick me up. I didn’t even get to ask her name.
