Unfiltered Story #192284

(I used to work in the fresh food department for a large supermarket, where I live. They had a big thing for “speciality diet” foods, gluten free, vegan etc. but this one threw me).

Customer: Excuse me young man, can you tell me where I’d find the vegetarian cheese?
Me: Uh, do you mean vegan sir?
Customer: No no, definitely vegetarian. My daughter is coming, and she doesn’t eat meat.
(I was a bit surprised at this point, and my mouth got the better of me)
Me: “Well sir, all of these cheeses *gestures to entire cheese aisle* are suitable for vegetarians. In fact, if you find a chunk of meat in any of them, bring them back and I personally guarantee we’ll give you a full refund”
Customer; Oh, thank you very much.
