Unfiltered Story #188428

(I am working in the cafeteria and one of our soda fountains is having problems with one of the sodas. After a customer fills their cup and steps back, the lever gets stuck and soda continues to flow. I’ve tried everything I can think of to fix it to the point where we’ve had to call in a work order. One of the Hospital’s Residents comes in to get breakfast and he goes to that particular soda and the lever gets stuck, spilling soda all over the place. I run over to try and stop the flow and clean the mess.)
Me: “I’m so sorry about that. It’s been doing that for a couple days. I’m not sure what’s wrong with it.”
Resident: “Well I’m assuming that there is syrup stuck behind the lever and when someone puts their cup there it gets stuck in that position. I’m sure if SOMEONE would just clean back there it would work again. But I don’t know; I didn’t get my doctorate in SODA MACHINE REPAIR.”
(The resident stomped away leaving his sticky cup behind. Considering that it was an early weekend morning I’m assuming he’d been there overnight and was just cranky. FYI, cleaning the lever was the first thing I tried…)
