Unfiltered Story #18636

Unfiltered | April 23, 2017

I went to a private high school and although there were no cliques there were definitely social circles. I have really low self esteem and actually go to therapy for it. My family encouraged me to join more social clubs so after some failures (cross country isn’t for me or my asthma) I decide to join yearbook in grade 12, which is a club consisting of 8 other girls and two teachers.

Our yearbook includes our grad trip so our teacher advisors encouraged us to take pictures while on the trip.

While on the trip, the other girls in the club take pictures and include me but as soon as the pictures are done they disperse and I feel left alone.

On the last day of the trip we go to 6 flags. There’s a huge water fountain at 6 flags and one of the other girls in yearbook wants to take a picture in front of it with me.

Me: *jokingly* Smile and pretend that we like each other [this is something my family says to each other as a joke]

Girl: [My Name] I think everyone likes you.

This girl had no one how amazing she made me feel and I felt more confident and comfortable with my classmates then I had in all 4 years with them.

Thank you Tali, you’ll never know how much this means to me.
